Align with the Phases of the Moon

For as long as people could look up to the sky, they gazed at the moon with wonder, and probably since they stopped running from dinosaurs, they looked to the moon and its cycles for guidance. There are 8 moon phases:

  1. New Moon: The moon is virtually invisible to the naked eye.

  2. Waxing Crescent: A thin, silver crescent begins to appear on the right side of the moon, the first moment of visibility.

  3. First Quarter: Half of the moon is illuminated, forming a clear right-hand semicircle.

  4. Waxing Gibbous: More than half of the right side of the moon is illuminated, but it's not yet full.

  5. Full Moon: A bright, full circle overtakes the sky.

  6. Waning Gibbous: A thin, dark crescent forms from the right side. More than half of the moon on the left side is still visible.

  7. Third/Last Quarter: Half of the moon is illuminated, forming a clear left-hand semicircle.

  8. Waning Crescent: More than half of the moon is virtually invisible to the naked eye, leaving a thin silver crescent on the left side.

Additional Tips to Moon Magick

1. Regular Practice: Consistency is key, so do what you can as frequently as possible. You probably are reading this because you aren’t quite sure how to integrate the moon into your magickal practice, and though you may be excited, you don’t want to burn out. Focus on one or two moments of the moon cycle and establish a regular, whether it’s daily or monthly, habit. Adapt these practices to fit your lifestyle.

2. Seek Community: Connect with like-minded individuals through spiritual groups, workshops, or online communities. Sharing your journey with others can provide support and inspiration. Seek guidance from spiritual advisors or mentors, especially if you feel stuck or stagnant.

3. Stay Open: Be open to new experiences and insights. Your spiritual journey is unique and may evolve in unexpected ways.

Moon magick shouldn’t be inaccessible. Incorporating these practical steps will help you align with the moon’s cycles and become more attuned to the rhythms of the universe and your own inner wisdom.
